New Law to allow Early Retirement |
KUALA LUMPUR: THE proposed law to raise the private sector retirement age from 55 years to 60 will contain provisions for those who wish to retire earlier.
Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said the objective of the new law was to safeguard workers' desire to continue working.
"Under this new law, employers are obliged to keep workers until they reach 60 and if they (employers) wish, they can allow them a further four years of service.
"Of course, the law will not force workers who wish to opt out early to continue working until 60."
